Stories of Service at UM

"Veterans tell fascinating stories, and their solidarity, purpose and dignity unite us as a nation," said Maija Garcia, the show's director and an Ann Arbor native who came from New York to direct "Stories of Service."

"I have yet to meet a Veteran who considers him or herself hero," Garcia added. "They view themselves as ordinary people who are asked to do extraordinary things. And they are phenomenal storytellers."

The event uses music and song to frame the varied experience of our Veterans, said Daniel Patrick, foundation director of Fisher House Michigan. The event is intended to raise awareness of the drive to raise money for a Fisher House at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System.
